From humble beginnings…
Some people often take a bit longer to fulfil their real ambition in life, so, when in February 2014 Petros Mavros opened the doors of the Lengo tavern to welcome his first customers, over three decades had elapsed since the young Petros then aged 14 when helping in his parents Hotel kitchen turned to his Father and said he knew what he really wanted to do with his life and that was to: - ‘cook lovely food for nice people
That long held wish is now a reality and as both owner and Chef, Petros has created a truly unique neighbourhood Taverna, one that caters for those with a genuine love for Mediterranean inspired dishes, a place where the warm community atmosphere generates a mood to meet, talk, drink, listen to music, and to relish good food. Success in everything must always emanate from first having a great passion for what you do, and it is not all about searching for the next big idea, the real path to success starts with the passion that lives within you.
Where are we now
Passion may only be one small word but, it is really the basis behind what makes Lengo a ‘stand out’ eatery, and although it is not a digestible food stuff, Chef always manages to perfectly translate this word through his delicate, also bold, always innovative flavours, and in his demand for only locally sourced seasonal ingredients, for dishes that fill the stomach as well as the spirit, where new combinations of flavours are added to traditional dishes to both revitalise and delight the taste buds.
Petros Mavros now lives his dream, that long term love affair with food has been happily transformed into a very solid marriage, where, on a daily basis he gets to release that passion and deliver to customers his versions of ‘love on a plate
Shakespeare in his play Twelfth Night wrote:- ‘If music be the food of love, play on’ Lengo now celebrates that quote when, on special event evenings diners can enjoy that perfect partnership of lovely food and music courtesy of some of our most talented local musicians.
